Development agencies and NGOs have taken the lead in producing online training materials that build capacity by implementing sector strategies. With content created by development practitioners, this online training offers free-of-charge some of the most advanced applications of ICT for e-learning. More  Youth for Development New Ways of Learning for Youth Around the World Youth in several countries around the world are benefiting from joint ventures between their governments, big name computer companies, and schools. There are several successful case studies of these partners working together and succeeding to reach their goals, such as creating a national learning network in every school (as in Chile). The latest, in Rwanda, emphasizes the hope such access to tools, information and the world can inspire in youth. It changes the way they learn and interact and even strengthens self-esteem. More  Population and Reproductive Health Online Resources for Continuing Education in Sexual and Reproductive Health The knowledge and skills of healthcare workers, at all levels, is vital for the provision of quality care. In resource-poor or isolated areas, regularly updating the knowledge and skills base of healthcare workers may be particularly challenging. As internet access in developing countries increases, continuing education via the internet may be a viable solution for healthcare workers to refresh their knowledge and to keep up-to-date with current research and information on sexual and reproductive health (SRH); however, barriers such as access, connectivity and availability of the materials in local languages remain. This highlight will link to a number of educational resources on SRH, both formal and informal, that are currently available online at no cost. More  Food Security E-Learning to Support National Food Security Information Systems and Networks An e-learning program of the European Commission and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the Food Security Information for Action Programme aims at enhancing national and local capacity to generate, manage, and use food security information from different sectors for more effective policies and programs. This online education program will have far-reaching effects by making available tools, applications and guidelines related to food security analysis, and supporting and enhancing existing face-to-face training and capacity building activities. More  HIV / AIDS Using ICTs to Reach Out and Teach More People About HIV/AIDS Africa and India are both resource-poor in terms of infrastructure development in education and healthcare delivery systems. There exist huge gaps in providing even primary education to millions of people and this situation creates a high degree of vulnerability to HIV infection. Where conventional education systems are unable to cope with the demands and needs of the population, online education is one way of reaching out and teaching people how to avoid, live with, and treat HIV/AIDS.
