Knowledge for Poverty Alleviation framework

CCLFI of the Philippines recently introduced a framework for community development – the Knowledge for Poverty Alleviation or KPA –. The tool was introduced and presented April 9, 2008 at a World Bank-led Development Innovation Marketplace in the Philippines. KPA is the product of the partnership between two non-profit foundations, CCLFI.Philippines and PEF or Peace and Equity Foundation, the largest development funding CSO in the Philippines. The purpose of KPA is to enhance the chances of success of anti-poverty projects at the local or community level. KPA incorporates the success factors found after scanning more than 950 projects PEF has supported in the last five years. It is based on the observation from these and other exemplar projects that success is often due to leveraging of intangible assets of communities. KPA also incorporates the success factors that sustainable development practitioners adhere to worldwide. Development institutions can benefit from KPA through the use of toolkits and work templates that CCLFI.Philippines and PEF had started to develop. Development institutions may also consider collaborating with CCLFI.Philippines and PEF to accelerate the improvement, operationalization and adaptation of KPA tools in your area of operations.
