Indigenous Peoples and Climate Change: A Human Rights Issue
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Fourth Assessment Report published in early 2007 confirmed that global climate change is already taking place and having an impact on many communities around the world. The report found that communities who live in marginal lands and whose livelihoods are highly dependent on natural resources are among the most vulnerable to climate change.

Just days after the release of a government- commissioned report into child sex abuse in Indigenous communities, a Northern Territory woman says abuse has been happening on the Tiwi Islands, north of Darwin, for decades.

Amanda Tipiloura says she knows of a case where a 11-year-old girl was raped by a community member on the Tiwi Islands during this year's grand final day celebrations.

The Supreme Court of Belize ruled in Cal v. Attorney General that the national government must recognize the indigenous Mayans’ customary tenure to land and refrain from any act that might prejudice their use or enjoyment of this land.
