Indigenous fishing forum to focus on sustainability
Aboriginal communities in the Northern Territory will be represented at a two-day Indigenous fishing forum in Fremantle today.

The Native Title Tribunal is hosting the conference which aims to strike a balance between the long-term sustainability of fish and the cultural rights of Indigenous people.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission Yilli Rreung Regional Council chair, Eddie Cubillo, says it is a chance to hear how other countries manage their marine resources.

"There are some guest speakers from New Zealand as well as Canada and we will just have a look at what's been done in those countries and relate back to here in Australia and the Northern Territory," he said.
