Information Technologies and International Development, the premiere publication in the field of information and communication technologies (ICTs) and international development, has recently gone open access, offering free online access to all of its high-quality research. Published quarterly through The MIT Press, ITID is a peer-reviewed journal for researchers and practitioners from the engineering and social sciences; technologists; policy makers; and development specialists. Thanks to generous support from Microsoft, we are very excited to be on the forefront of the global movement in scholarly publishing toward open access and to be the first of The MIT Press’ journals to undertake this initiative.
Following the spirit of open access, we are also moving to Creative Commons’ “Attribution NoDerivative” licenses for all ITID content. These licenses allow members of the public to freely copy the work as long as they correctly attribute it and do not adapt or change it. Our intent is to make reproduction and dissemination of our articles easier without sacrificing any of the integrity of our authors’ works.
ITID is soliciting high-quality original research articles from researchers, graduate students and professionals that advance the field in meaningful ways. If you or your colleagues are interested in becoming an ITID author so that you, too, can benefit from the journal’s increasing visibility among those in the field of ICTs and the developing world, please visit the journal’s Web site (www.mitpress.mit.edu/ITID) and read the instructions for authors. The journal typically publishes articles in the following categories: longer research pieces (6,000 to 12,000 words); shorter research notes (4,000 words); and policy-oriented rhetorical pieces for our Forum section (500-1,500 words). Each submission will undergo rigorous peer review and must not be simultaneously under consideration by any other publisher.
Manuscripts are accepted at all times and on a rolling basis; please send electronic submissions or potential article ideas to ITID-ed@mit.edu. We hope you will consider publishing with ITID, especially in light of our new publishing model, and give us the opportunity of sharing your work with an enlarged community of thoughtful practitioners and engaged scholars. |
