The Ghanaian Ministry of Communication, the Ministry of Health/National AIDS Control Program, the Ghana Social Marketing Foundation, and the Johns Hopkins University Center for Communication Programs implemented the "Stop AIDS: Love Life" campaign. Ghanaian hip-life, highlife, and gospel musicians produced an HIV/AIDS song and music video that featured explicit messages about safe sex, including three core components of abstinence, fidelity, and condom use. A traveling road show visited Ghanaian towns, promoting HIV/AIDS prevention in an entertaining and informative way. Also featured in the campaign were T-shirts, hats, posters, car stickers, and outdoor signboards. The main purposes of the campaign were to enhance awareness about HIV/AIDS in Ghana, so as to increase the adoption of safe sex behavior, de-stigmatize the disease, and encourage compassion, care, and support for people living with HIV/AIDS.
