This database of eGovernment cases has become a component of the Good Practice Framework launched by the European Commission on April 20, 2004. The Framework uses a set of assessment criteria for evaluating practice examples, which include quality, benefits and transferability. It defines good practice as "real life solutions with actual usage which represent leading edge experience, though not necessarily the best, ideal or unproblematic. They provide useful learning experiences for others, likely to stimulate creativity, self reflexion and the transfer of good ideas." The database had been launched one year ago during the ministerial conference on egovernment held in Italy, and it aims to contribute to the objectives of eEurope 2005. It is being populated with additional cases, and can be searched by country (a total of 24 countries), theme, government level (local, regional, national), type of cooperation/partnership, and type of user (citizens, business). Currently each registry includes website and case summary and/or description.
