This issue of the Local Government Brief (quarterly Policy Journal) examines: (1) various factors which inhibit the accountability of local government agencies to the public; (2) possible management and administrative decisions and measures available to improve accountability and the effective responses local government agencies offer their citizens. It is envisioned that these articles will contribute to the formation of concrete policy recommendations concerning which types of administrative remedies show the greatest potential for improving governance in various circumstances — at least as perceived by the local population most directly affected.
