During 25th March - 1st April 2008 ICLEI South Asia project staffs visited the cities of Vijaywada, Thane and Vishakhapatnam, which have been selected as project cities for the Carbon Emission Reduction project following the First Project Meeting held on 4th March 2008 in New Delhi.Three cities selected for implementation of project under the 1st phase of the programme for the period December 2007 - May 2008.

During the visits, meetings were held with the Municipal Corporation Commissioners and Mayors to discuss the need and importance of the project in the preparation of carbon profile for city. A cross functional core team was formulated and endorsed by the Municipal Commissioner to coordinate with ICLEI in the implementation and monitoring the project. The selected project cities shall be assisted by ICLEI SA to estimate the emission baseline based on city energy status report and create a carbon emission inventory.
