Halvdan Skard: ''The Dubai Forum should lay the foundation for a long-term cooperation between European and Arab cities''
[11/02/2008] ''We must create synergies, using our specific traditions based on shared humanist values, which will sustain a coherent development in both in Europe and the Arab world,'' stressed Congress President Halvdan Skard at the opening of the Euro-Arab Cities Forum in Dubai on 10 February. ''In an era of globalisation, the dialogue and the mutual understanding between our people must be necessarily reinforced, also through the exchange of experiences and projects for local governance, city transport and urban planning, urban environment protection and water resources, financial needs and investments, cultural heritage and tourism, which are on the agenda of this Forum,'' he said.
