About Focus on Post-War Reconstruction and Development in Afghanistan
  • What is this Focus about?

    This Development Focus is about the process of rebuilding Afghanistan after more than 20 years of wars and chaos which will be starting with the formation of a new broad-based Government in Kabul expected in early 2002. This Focus will concentrate on issues of post-conflict reconstruction and socio-economic development covering other issues only as needed for background information.

  • What is the mission of this Development Focus?

    The mission of Afghanistan Reconstruction Focus portal is to make the Internet a more valuable source of information and solutions to people involved in Afghanistan Reconstruction. We do this by connecting people to needed information, tools and to one another. In order to fulfill our mission we are trying to build a vibrant global Afghanistan Reconstruction community around a comprehensive knowledge base supported by a diverse advisory group and multi-stakeholder institutional partnership for Afghanistan Reconstruction.

    All who share our professional or educational interest in Post-War Reconstruction and Development in Afghanistan are welcome to join us. You might work or study at a university doing research, a humanitarian relief NGO working in the field or in HQ, a private sector company looking for business opportunities or at a donor agency. You may be looking for a job or volunteer opportunity in this area. Or you might be in need of a quick answer to a tough question or would like to voice your opinion to a broader audience. This site is aimed to help all of you!

  • What is the value added of this Focus?

    This site aims to serve as a common platform for stakeholders from all sectors: donor and relief community, Afghan Diaspora, NGOs and private companies, students and academics. We hope the site will help build a broad-based and well-balanced public-private partnership open to all unlike some other sites which focus either on donors only or on Diaspora or on NGOs or on specific sectors and activities. Everyone can contribute resources or opinions, regardless of political, religious or ethnic affiliation. The site will be non-political and provide an open forum to all constructive stakeholders, friends of Afghanistan reconstruction. With your active participation, we hope this site will become the most comprehensive web resource on Afghanistan reconstruction and development. Inshallah!

Content that is unavailable or cannot easily be found on the web is particularly welcome - in English, French, Spanish, Russian or Portuguese.
